Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus, really? They say Jesus Christ was the most specific, not to mention the clearest, picture of our God Almighty pursuing us. He was, after all, His very own son, whom He sent here on Earth to save and deliver us from sins.

Take a closer look over the world’s major religions and you will find that Muhammad, Confucius, Buddha and Moses all proclaimed the title prophet or teacher, but none of them claimed to be His equal. Only Jesus Christ did, and that was what set Him apart from the rest. He told the people that God was real and that the proof stood right before them. Whenever He would talk about the Father, He would do so in way that depicted their very close union, rather than an existing position of separation between Them.

But who is Jesus according to the Holy Bible?

He is the fulfillment of prophecy.
  • Isaiah 9:6 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
  • Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Emmanuel (Prophecy).
Jesus is God Almighty’s image.
  • Hebrews 1:3 – The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:4 – The God this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
He is both David’s descendant and the Creator.
  • Matthew 22: 41-46 – While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” “The Son of David,” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls Him ‘Lord’? For he says, ‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ “If David calls him ‘Lord’, how can He be His Son?” No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask Him any more questions.
  • Revelation 5:5 – Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
These are just a few of the scriptures that prove who is Jesus and the roles He play in our Christian lives. These just show how much the God Almighty loves His people, that He sent His very own Son to save us from our sins.
